Read-alouds are an important part of this classroom! They help build a more literacy-rich environment where students can learn appropriate reading expression, fluency, and comprehension. It makes books come ALIVE!
We will be reading many the following in class this year (others may be added, including MANY picture books!) as part of our Storybook STEM Read-Alouds. In addition to reading, we will actually get to do lots of science activities related to what we are reading! It's going to be awesome!
"The Wild Robot" and "The Wild Robot Returns"
"Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus"
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
"Out of My Mind"
"Fish in a Tree"
"Charlotte's Web"
"Esperanza Rising"
"Hatchet"
"The Tale of Despereaux"
"Number the Stars"
"Mr. Popper's Penguins"
Additionally, we will be reading at least one picture book a day to support different reading strategies such as theme, character development, setting, plot, and more. We are going to READ, READ, READ!
